Since 2005, the purpose of the Seminarios CiP has been to organize the chief debates in public and gender policies in the local sphere and to take note of alternatives for the future. The Seminarios are a joint thinking space for people in the academic, institutional, and social fields that work for gender equality, equality of opportunity, and the right to difference, understanding that the local world is a privileged space for debating this subject.
The Seminario takes place every November, centered on a theme that the Grupo de Investigación Ciutats i Persones has been working on during the year. In the Seminario, experts in the topic present research in practical applications, and the attending audience discusses it with them, beginning with the presentations, and continuing as a conveyor belt of knowledge in both theoretical and practical directions.
In each Seminario we present a book edited in the Grana Collection of ICPS that gathers the work done by the Grupo de Investigación and the experts present in the Seminario.
Themes worked on include sustainability and economics, public space and security, living conditions of immigrants, policies at the time, citizen participation, budgets, and specific policies targeted at women (always from a gender and local perspective).
